Dwarka CGHS Energises a 100 KW Roof-Top Solar Plant

Becomes the First to do so as part of the ambitious utility anchored
program

• Each of the 60 flats will save around Rs 4500 annually in their electricity bills
• Solar plant will be able to offset around 32 per cent of a resident’s annual carbon emission
• Initiative to maximize the utilization of solar roof top potential
• Initiative in partnership with Indo German Collaboration (GIZ India)
New Delhi: By installing a 100 KW grid-connected rooftop solar plant, the Shiv Bhole Cooperative
Group Housing Society in Dwarka has become the first CGHS to go live as part of BSES Rajdhani Power
Limited(BRPL) ambitious 'Solar City Initiative - Solarise Dwarka’. By doing so, the residential society has
set an example not only for the roughly 250 housing societies in this sub-city, but also for the entire
national capital.
The solar plant is first under the initiative launched on Jan 7 early this year. The Solarise Dwarka
initiative is being implemented by BRPL in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale
Zusammenarbeit (GIZ India) under its Indo-German Solar Partnership project.
The plant was inaugurated by Dr Wolfram Klein – Head of Division India; South Asia German Federal
Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Developmen in presence of Mr. Amal Sinha, CEO-BRPL. Dr Klein
is visiting India on the occasion of annual Indo-German bilateral consultations. Others present on the
occasion included Ms Susanne Dorasil (Head of Economic Cooperation and Development, German
Embassy, New Delhi), senior officials from BMZ, GIZ and residents from the CGHS..
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Wolfram Klein, said, “It is quite encouraging to witness people
participating in the energy transition in India: that is the only way to have a sustainable energy
transformation; similar to what we saw in Germany”.
On this occasion, Mr Amal Sinha, CEO BRPL said, “BRPL is at the forefront of leading the solar
revolution in the city and sees unique benefits of adding distributed generation in its network.We
would like to achieve at least 2.5MW of solar installation within Dwarka. We are convinced of the
increased role solar and other green energy would play going forward. We want to lead from the
front.”
Benefits to the Society
The 100kWp solar plant installed at the housing society would save roughly Rs 4500 annually for each
of the 60 households in the society. The plant has been installed by Green Ripples Pvt Ltd .
